Social Widgets
Profiles that look like your report card and need manual updating all the time are a thing of the past.
Powered by a dynamic, flexible information store and Flash 9, widgets are visual interpretations of otherwise stagnant user data. The building blocks of a widget are open source, and any aspiring Flash developer can create new widgets to capture and showcase a new piece of information.
On the right are some sample widgets:
|
Now PlayingDisplays the song currently playing in your Windows Media Player, iTunes or Winamp, complete with album art. |
FlickrDisplays the latest photos from a chosen Flickr account. |
WeatherShows your friends the weather of your current location with cute emoticons. |
|
MoodTells others what your mood is like right now. |
World Time ClockBoth powerful and subtle, the clock can automatically tune to your time zone, letting your international friends know that you are chatting at midnight. |
A good example of web integration, this widget can hook into a Twitter message feed. |
